October goals

Week 1 | Week 2 | Monthly Recap

Visiting my sister at the hospital

Three priority goals

  • Get rid of internet addiction: I will be doing a month without internet (or TV / phone which aren’t a problem for me, but I tend to fall back on them when I don’t have internet).
  • Finish writing my book: I will be finishing my book within the next few days, then I have to re-read it and do some correcting and editing. I hope to send it to at least one publisher by the end of the month.
  • Morality: Throughout the year I have been reflecting a lot on who I want to be, what I want my life to look like, etc. I am very happy with where I am in basically every area of my life, be it social, health, career, wealth, personal growth, entertainment, skills and learning, etc. However, I always rank myself low in the morality & ethics department. I know I am much more strict than most people are in this area and from the outside it may look like I am doing well, but I am constantly feeling disappointed in myself, upset about the world and guilty about not doing enough. My identity as a person is directly dependent on whether I am living a moral life (the hardship of having Fi as a main function!). It’s something I think about every day and I’m not happy with where I am. For this month, I have decided to do at least one “good thing” every day. Be it activism or directly saving a life, charity giving or simply going out of my way to be kinder. I have to write it down to keep myself accountable.

Other goals

  • Spend one hour every day studying Japanese (time studying kanji doesn’t count!)
  • Properly start an exercise routine: The first few months of the year were spent on improving my eating habits and the summer was to get used to a more active lifestyle, but not necessarily with any goal in mind. I’m ready for step three which, in addition to the other two steps, also includes a more specific health routine in the mornings: weights, yoga/stretches of my legs and back and posture correction, dancing/qigong between hours of sitting and taking care of my eyesight.
  • Spend 1h every day working on programming and job goals. It may include studying or sending out more resumes.
  • Create a steady habit of reading. My goal at the start of the year was simply to pick up reading, but it has gone very well and I’ve been reading 2-3 books every month. However, there are days where I read half a book and then I don’t read again in two weeks, so it’s not really an ingrained habit yet. This month I would like to read for at least an hour every day and make it part of my daily life.
  • Every day, I have to work on one of these things: post something on instagram (I keep forgetting and it’s tiring, but I enjoy it), cook something new (I’m not very adventurous, but I want better cooking skills to impress my family for Christmas), do something on my to-do list (before it gets too long!) or practice my photography skills.
